Attack sparks missile fears

The attack on the Israeli Airliner by the man-carried surface to air missile was unsuccessful as was the attack on the American fighter jet at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.  Previously there had been successful attacks in Africa.

1.  I assumed that the missile was American-made.  I was a Russian-made SA-7.

2.  The latest failures suggest that the missiles have a "use-before time".  If they don't they should.

3.  Installing infra-red flashers at airports, tuned to the Stingers and SA-7's, would be cheaper than installing IR decoys on 7000 airliners.

4.  It is said that the Stingers and SA-7's are available on the black market.  We should buy them up.  We should try to recover all the missiles we and the Russians gave away.
