Jewish Prayer vs. Self Defense I was encouraged by the first 80% of the Jeff Dunetz article,What type of world will my children live in? http://www.jewishworldreview.com/1103/dunetz111703.php3 The last 20%, where Dunetz states that prayer is the answer, is a cruel joke. Jews prayed in Auschwitz and Trebilnka. They prayed all the time in Vilnius, and of the 60,000 who prayed only 1600 survived. During the holocaust 6,000,000 Jews only killed 6,000 Germans. Every synagogue should have a self defense committee - an armed committee. Every synagogue and Jewish center should have blast reducing berms which deflect blasts skyward. Parking nears Jewish centers should be by permit only. Efforts should be made to interdict radical anti-Semites. New York's broken window and Boston's aggressive recidivist prevention policies should be practiced. Every time a Jewish site is attacked a radical madrassa should be attacked. Dunetz sees the Jews as praying victims. The lesson of the Torah is that G-d supports Jews who are armed and aggressive. There are no examples where G-d interceded for Jews who were passive and praying. The Nazi's, the Europeans, the Palestinians, and al Quiada want passive praying Jews, who wait to be exterminated. So does Dunetz.
