Marilyn Johns at the Western Wall

The Western Wall, built be Herod, providing the retaining wall for the 2nd Temple.  Destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D.  Orthodox Jews wear black to mourn the destruction of the Temple.  The fresh, open air, the energy of the area, the faith and enthusiasm of the worshippers was dramatic.  This is a men-only area.  Women worship to the right.

Mughrabi Gate dig site.  Palestinians claim this dig site endangers the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque   Between the dig site and the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque is the Western Wall.

It’s not likely that the Israelis would endanger the Western Wall or the Temple Mount.  Picture source: http://static.flickr.com/44/158988549_067a94b471_o.jpg
