The wall was built by the Ottoman Turks.  The gold dome is the Dome of the Rock.

Yad-Vashem Museum of the Holocaust.  The museum seemed to be laid out by Ikea.  You followed a determined path through every exhibit.  Miles of pictures of Jews being pushed, beaten, and killed and as jumbled corpses.  Stacks of stolen family silver and photographs.  No place to hide for Holocaust deniers.

One of the hundreds of displays, combining video and stills.  You are no supposed to take pictures, so the docents combined with my intermittent camera limited what I can show.  There was a ghetto street with trolley tracks and pictures of Jewish kids riding the back of trolleys.

Jerusalem City Center, where I got my Nikon D80 fixed.

Russian shoemaker.  In this alley I bargained for a shofar.  Starting price was 450 shekels.  I got it for 150.  I saw it in another shop for 99.

King David Hotel.  The far wing was blown up in 1946 by the Irgun.  Menachen Begin said they called in a warning.  The British denied it.

Members of the Irgun, dressed as Arabs, set off a bomb in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, which had been the base for the British Secretariat, the military command and a branch of the Criminal Investigation Division (police). Ninety-one people were killed, most of them staff of the secretariat and the hotel: 28 British, 41 Arab, 17 Jewish, and 5 other. Around 45 people were injured.[1]

The attack was initially ordered by Menachem Begin, the head of the Irgun, who would later become Prime Minister of Israel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_David_Hotel_bombing
